Castletown Hotel, Castletown (3 Nights)

The home of old-fashioned Highland hospitality, the Castletown hotel is family-run and known for their delicious home-cooking from locally sourced ingredients. The hotel is nestled in the heart of the picturesque village of Castletown, where a series of imposing buildings dominate the centre. (no lift)

Day One

Travel to Fort William and the Alexandra Hotel for your overnight stay. Comfort stops will be made en-route.

Day Two

Head North through glorious scenery to Castletown and the Castletown Hotel, your base for three nights.

Day Three

Visit the enchanting Castle of Mey, used as a Scottish holiday retreat by the late Queen Mother. It is the most northerly inhabited castle on the British mainland, with striking towers, turrets and beautiful walled gardens. There is also an animal centre on the grounds. Then relax and take in some of the most spectacular scenery that Scotland has to offer, as you travel along the north coast to Durness.

Day Four

Take the 45-minute ferry crossing to Orkney and see some of the main sites of interest. These include Skara Brae (entry included), a stone-built Neolithic settlement, the Churchill Barriers, Scapa Flow, Ring of Brodgar, the Standing Stones of Stenness, the Italian Chapel (entry included) and the busy harbour town of Kirkwall, where there will be some free time.

Day Five

Leaving Castletown you will travel to Perth and the Salutation Hotel for your overnight stay.

Day Six

After breakfast you leave Perth and travel home. Comfort stops will be made en-route.
