The property is a historical site in its own right, dating back to 1671. It is a short stroll away from some of the must-visit attractions in the town centre. Day One
Depart from your selected joining point and travel to the Cedar Court Hotel, Harrogate. Comfort stops will be made en-route.
Day Two
A Blue Badge guide joins our coach for a fantastic "Herriot and Helmsley" tour. The panoramas throughout are exceptional and you will hear lots of wonderful related stories. Stops will be made in Thirsk and Helmsley - two very different towns - there is much of interest to suit all tastes. First visit the charming estate village of Ripley, passing by its castle and the Ingilby estate before continuing on to the small cathedral city of Ripon, with its tales of the nightly tradition of the Hornblower and Alice in Wonderland and then to Thirsk, working home of the veterinary surgeon and author, James Herriot and birthplace of Thomas Lord of cricketing fame. Enjoy a panoramic tour through some of Yorkshire's most enchanting and picturesque villages with their exquisitely beautiful cottage gardens. In Coxwold you can view Shandy Hall and pass by the ruined Cistercian Abbey, with its magnificent rose window. View the idyllic hamlet of Rievaulx before stopping for lunch in Helmsley with some time to discover its delights. Continue on a panoramic tour to Fadmoor and enjoy a 'Surprise View' over the North York Moors on the way to Hutton-le-hole, where becks tumble down from the moors. There are sprawling stone houses with red pantile roofs and white picket fences and the sheep graze freely. It is also home to the Ryedale Folk Museum. On to Sutton Bank, which James Herriot once described as the "finest view in England" before returning to Harrogate.
Day Three
The ancient city of York has many must-see attractions including the Minster, The Shambles and the JORVIK Viking Centre. Its charming streets offer a mix of designer stores, independent shops and boutiques; a shopper's paradise.
Day Four
Stroll through beautiful gardens, relax in historic Turkish baths, visit the Royal Pump Room Museum, savour world-class tea rooms or wander round the boutique shops in the chic Montpellier Quarter on the free day.
Day Five
After breakfast you leave Harrogate and travel home. Comfort stops will be made en-route.
