Carrbridge Hotel, Carrbridge
Originally established in 1803 as an Inn for weary travellers, the Watt family have owned and managed the Carrbridge Hotel for over four decades. The hotel has been extensively refurbished and extended to provide modern accommodation whilst retaining its character. The Grill Room and Bar has a welcoming log fire and the chefs take pride in using only the finest produce to ensure wide and varied menus. (lift) This hotel will not accept Oxygen Cylinders.
Day One
Depart from your selected joining point and travel to the Carrbridge Hotel, Carrbridge. Comfort stops will be made en-route.
Day Two
The journey from Carrbridge to Royal Deeside is a picturesque drive through the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, where ancient pine forests, rolling hills, and winding rivers create a true Highland landscape. Experience some of Scotland's most scenic mountain roads before descending into the beautiful valley of Royal Deeside. A visit to Balmoral Castle, the Scottish residence of the Royal Family, is set amid majestic scenery, the estate offers elegant gardens, rich history, and peaceful woodland walks. It's a journey that perfectly blends natural splendour, heritage, and a touch of royal charm. NOTE: entry to Balmoral Castle is subject to Royals in residence and may be removed from this excursion.
Day Three
Visit Aviemore, a well-known and popular destination with beautiful scenery and a welcoming atmosphere. Aviemore is surrounded by towering mountains, sparkling lochs and dense forests; and has a great selection of shops, cafes and bars. Continue to the lovely village of Newtonmore and enjoy a visit to the Highland Folk Museum, Britain's first open air museum. Step back in time and experience life in the Highlands from 1700s to the 1950s. Explore over 35 historical buildings and discover how people in the Highlands lived, worked, went to school and enjoyed leisure time.
Day Four
Head to the charming settlement of Fort Augustus, situated on the impressive Caledonian Canal. Perhaps visit the Caledonian Canal Heritage Centre or the Clansman Centre and experience centuries of heritage and history from the surrounding area. Enjoy an exhilarating cruise on Loch Ness, taking in the stunning landscape and views of Urquhart Castle, before arriving in the 'Highland Capital of Scotland', Inverness. Admire the castle towering over the city as you wander through the bustling centre with its many shops, cafes and galleries.
Day Five
After breakfast you leave Carrbridge and travel home. Comfort stops will be made en-route.
