Dornoch exudes a gentle coastal charm, known for its golden beach, Medieval cathedral and elegant stone buildings. Then to DIngwall, with Norse roots and a proud Highland character. Its compact centre hosts independent shops and cafés.
Day Three
The drive through Wester Ross from Strathpeffer is one of the most scenic routes in the Highlands, winding through a landscape of rugged hills, deep glens and sparkling lochs. From Strathpeffer, the road climbs westward toward the dramatic Corrieshalloch Gorge and the Falls of Measach, where water plunges through a narrow chasm surrounded by lush woodland. Continuing toward Poolewe, the scenery softens as you reach Inverewe Gardens (entry included), an oasis of exotic plants thriving in the mild Gulf Stream climate beside Loch Ewe. The return via Achnasheen offers sweeping views of open moorland and mountain peaks, a tranquil and majestic end to a journey rich in natural beauty.
Day Four
A half day to the Black Isle, where you will be greeted by sweeping views of the Moray Firth, often with dolphins playing. The route winds through gentle countryside to Cromarty, a picturesque seafaring town. The area captures the quiet beauty of the Highlands' eastern edge.
Day Five
After breakfast you leave Strathpeffer and travel home. Comfort stops will be made en-route.
