Caledonian Hotel, Ullapool (1 night)
Built in the early 1900s, this is one of the oldest hotels in the area. It still boasts a quiet, friendly and welcoming atmosphere and pleasant gardens. The hotel overlooks the working harbour and the colourful fishing boats on Loch Broom. (no lift)
Caberfeidh Hotel, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis (2 nights)
A 4-star hotel situated in the beautiful town of Stornoway in a quiet location, close to the town centre and golf course. Luxurious, modern accommodation awaits to provide a truly enjoyable visit. Relax in comfort and enjoy fresh food, beautifully prepared in the excellent restaurant. (lift)
Dark Island, Liniclate, Isle of Benbecula (2 nights)
Set just 400 yards from the most stunning beach on the island, a warm and friendly welcome awaits. On a summer evening, take a stroll along the machair tracks and listen out for corncrakes, oystercatchers and lapwings calling from the vibrant patchwork of machair cornfield. (no lift)
Day One
Travel to Scotland's central belt for an overnight stay.
Day Two
Head north into the highlands, seeing some beautiful scenery along the way. Arrive in Ullapool for one night.
Day Three
Take the ferry from Ullapool to the Isle of Lewis. Explore Stornoway town, perhaps visit the harbour or Lews Castle, before arriving at the Cabarfeidh Hotel.
Day Four
Discover this stunning island with a local tour guide. See the Calanais Standing Stones, the historic Broch of Carloway which dates back over 2000 years, and the Gearrannan Blackhouse Village, traditional thatched croft houses.
Day Five
The Isle of Harris beckons with its ever-changing kaleidoscope of striking landscapes. Visit Tarbert, home to the Harris Tweed Shop and travel via stunning coastal beaches before taking the ferry to Benbecula and the Dark Island Hotel.
Day Six
Discover the Isle of Benbecula and Uist, home to 'Our Lady of the Isles', a 30ft statue. You may like to call in at the Kildonan Craft Shop and Museum for a tantalising insight into island life.
Day Seven
Take the ferry to the Isle of Skye. Journey through the magnificent scenery of the 'Magical Isle' before arriving on to the mainland for the final night stay.
Day Eight
A relaxing journey home through beautiful scenery.
