Head North through glorious scenery to Thurso and the Pentland Hotel, your base for three nights.
Enjoy a coach guided tour, with a local guide, of the magical Orkney Islands. See the World Heritage sites including the Standing Stones of Stenness and the Ring of Brodgar; plus Scapa Flow, the Churchill Barriers and the Italian Chapel. There will be some free time to explore Kirkwall, the Island's capital.
Start the day with a visit to the Castle of Mey, once the home of the late Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother from 1952 until 1996; and the most northerly inhabited castle in Scotland. Take a tour of the Castle and a wander around the unique walled gardens. Finish the day with a stop at John O'Groats. Enjoy its iconic location and jaw-dropping scenery. Continue to Thurso and The North Coast Visitor Centre. Its museum, set across three floors uses a collection of objects to tell the story of the County of Caithness from the geological period, about 416 to 359 million years ago, to the present day.
Relax and enjoy the scenery as you travel back through Scotland and a visit to the magnificent Dunrobin Castle and Gardens en-route to the overnight hotel.
After breakfast you leave Perth and travel home. Comfort stops will be made en-route.
It may be necessary under certain circumstances for these excursions to be operated on different days to those shown.
