Oban, Mull and Iona

Oban, known as the ‘Gateway to the Isles’, lies in a crescent beneath the hills surrounding the bay. It is a busy town with cafes and restaurants and a wide range of day tours on offer. The most outstanding feature is McCaig’s Tower, which features in many of the towns postcards.

Royal Hotel, Oban

 

Standing proudly in the centre of town, with an elegant Victorian exterior, overlooking the bay. This hotel offers quality modern surroundings along with a traditional dining experience. The comfortable lounge bar is a great place to enjoy the entertainment or simply sit back, relax and watch the world go by. Day One

Depart from your selected joining point and travel to Oban for your four nights stay at the Royal Hotel. Comfort stops will be made en-route.

Day Two

Join the ferry to the Isle of Mull, a beautiful island of moorland, forests and peaks. The south of Mull has magnificent cliff scenery. Join the next ferry to the tiny island of Iona, where St Columba established his abbey when he came from Ireland and sent his missionaries to convert Scotland to Christianity.

Day Three

Pass the highest mountain in Argyll and Bute; Ben Cruachan, picturesque Loch Awe and the pretty Bridge of Orchy, to journey through the stunning pre-historic landscape of Rannoch Moor and Glencoe, known as 'Glen of the Weeping'. Return along the beautiful western coastline via Loch Linnhe and Loch Creran.

Day Four

Spend a day exploring the popular seaside resort of Oban. There are so many attractions to visit including the distillery and boat tours are available from the busy harbour. If you prefer, take a stroll around the shops and along the Esplanade.

Day Five

After breakfast you leave Oban to start the journey home. Comfort stops will be made en-route.
