Caledonian Hotel, Newcastle-upon-Tyne
Built in 1870, the Caledonian Hotel displays classic Georgian architecture, combined with a stylish contemporary interior. Wooden flooring, plush leather sofas and low-level lighting features in the public areas, while the bedrooms are styled with bright modern decor. It is approximately a 30-minute walk into city centre from the hotel. but they are on a bus route for those who wish to make their own way.
Day One
Depart from your selected joining point and travel to the Caledonian Hotel, Newcastle for your four nights stay. Comfort stops will be made en-route.
Day Two
A guide will join our coach for an informative city tour, seeing some of Newcastle's famous landmarks. Afterwards, there will be some free time to explore this iconic city.
Day Three
Spend the day exploring the market town of Alnwick, the castle and the gardens. The castle is the country's largest inhabited castle outside Windsor. It's medieval architecture and sumptuous interior has made it a sought-after film location. Alnwick Garden is quite simply stunning. Discover elaborate water features and the world's largest Tai Haku Cherry Orchard.
Day Four
Today's coastal trail passes Beadnell Bay to the fishing village of Seahouses, where there will be free time. On to Bamburgh, home of the striking castle and Holy Island of Lindisfarne (tides permitting), breathtakingly beautiful with cafes and characterful pubs. Return via the picturesque villages of Ford and Etal.
Day Five
After breakfast you leave Newcastle and travel home. Comfort stops will be made en-route.
