There is also a fantastic range of food and drink experiences, with world street food and fine dining, all within historic surroundings

Wheatlands Lodge Hotel, York

 

Ideally situated, just a short walk from the centre of York and close to many of its famous attractions. This family run hotel is comfortable and homely, making it the perfect place to stay and a great place to relax before and after a busy day exploring the city. (no lift)

 

 

Day One

Depart from your selected joining point and travel to York for your four nights stay at the Wheatlands Hotel. Comfort stops will be made en-route.

Day Two

Sit back, relax and enjoy the scenic drive through the Howardian Hills. Pass Huby, Gilling East, Stonegrave and Hovingham before arriving at the Eden Camp Modern History Museum. Originally a prisoner of war camp, this interesting place is a series of original huts with immersive displays, covering both social and military history.

Day Three

Kirkgate Market is one of the largest indoor markets in Europe. With characterful traders and everything from jewellery and haberdashery to delicious food, it is unquestionably a shoppers paradise! As well as great shopping, the city of Leeds has both guided and self-guided tours available, for example the waterfront art trail. Take a walk along the canal to the industrial museum, visit the oldest pub in Leeds and there are lots of dining choices available.

Day Four

A day at leisure to discover some of York's gems. You may like to see the grand and iconic Minster, visit the art gallery or museums, stroll around The Shambles or take a river cruise.

Day Five

After breakfast you leave York and travel home. Comfort stops will be made en-route.
