Enjoy a spectacular 'day out' at the unique Falkirk Wheel and the extraordinary, monumental Kelpies.

Falkirk Wheel

Relax in the visitor centre and watch the only rotating boatlift in the world.  Designed to reconnect the Union Canal with the Forth and Clyde Canal by replacing a series of 19th Century lock gates that were demolished many years ago, the impressive Falkirk Wheel can carry eight or more boats at a time with a single trip taking about 60 minutes and providing an unforgettable experience.

The Kelpies

We also visit the largest public artworks in Scotland.  Inspired by the tradition of the heavy, working horses that used to pull barges along the canals and worked in the surrounding fields, the recently constructed, dramatic, 100ft-tall horse head sculptures called The Kelpies, are the landmark feature of the redevelopment of new parkland and pathways around Falkirk and Grangemouth.

Experience The Kelpies up close and take unique photographs.  The Helix Centre, the perfect place to pick up a souvenir or two which includes work from local producers.  The Helix Centre also boasts a cafe area ideal for a little pick me up.
